These blue stone earrings feature smooth flat shards or blades of blue kyanite. They are a deep sky blue color with that wonderful velvety satin-like sheen that is silvery or gray blue when turned just right. I wired the roughly rectangular stones, 7-10 x 22mm, in dark oxidized sterling silver. I captured an embossed sterling silver bead on the wire too. These beads with their cross-hatched texture made me think of quilt squares for some reason, but in this design I felt their blocky shape suited the rectangular kyanite shards.
Ear wires are handmade by me in 20 gauge sterling silver with dark oxidized patina.
A smidgen over 2 inches long, earrings weigh 2.2 and 2.4 grams.
