This lapis multi gemstone stretch bracelet was inspired by the Egyptian Revival during the 1920s. Exotic deep blue, green, and blue-black natural stones and brass accents surround the wrist in splendor.
The world was riveted with the discovery of King Tutankhamen’s tomb in 1922. King Tutankhamen’s tomb was the first intact ancient Egyptian tomb to be found. Imagine the treasures of art and adornment that were revealed upon its opening! Art Deco Egyptian Revival jewelry was created by all the major houses with some pieces actually including bits of archeological finds such as ceramic shards. Carved stone, enamels and bold color semiprecious gemstones like lapis, malachite, and carnelian expressed the aesthetic perfectly.
I designed this rich, jewel-toned bracelet with the Egyptian revival aesthetic in mind. I love how the double-drilled lapis rectangles give the bracelet a fine jewelry constructed appearance. Lapis, of course, figured into genuine Egyptian age art - it was even ground to a powder and worn as eye shadow/enhancement during that era.
This natural gemstone beaded bracelet features 6 x 12mm faceted rectangular lapis beads, 4mm heishi of blue tiger’s eye and green African jade, and 3mm textured brass saucers. Two larger antiqued brass rounds form a focal in the center.
